Award winning talent
In 2002, MPCB entered its first band competition - The Canadian Band Association's (CBA) "Festival of Bands" at the Canadian National Exhibition and won highest honours in a remarkable three of six award categories. We entered again in 2004, and took 3rd prize. This is truly a band of which Mississauga can be proud.
Sharing a passion for music since 1979
Mississauga Pops Concert Band (MPCB) was founded as Meadowvale Concert Band by amateur clarinet player Larry Vella. He brought together a few neighbours from the community of Meadowvale in Mississauga who shared the desire to play music and enjoy good company. Some of these founding members are still with the band now that it is in its third decade of operation. A passion for music, good fun, and a sense of community keep members coming back year after year. This outstanding adult musical group now boasts a membership of over 55 amateur and semi-professional performers from mixed age groups, backgrounds, and professions. Mississauga Pops Concert Band is affiliated with Mississauga Recreation and Parks, and is a member of Mississauga Arts Council.

The concert series
On the anniversary of its tenth year, the band hosted its first concert series at the Meadowvale Theatre, a series that is now a successful annual event. Supporting the community
While Mississauga was growing to be the sixth largest city in Canada with a population of 624,000, the band was a benefactor of such community growth projects as Meadowvale Theatre and Credit Valley Hospital. The band provided entertainment for the opening ceremonies of Mississauga's Civic Centre, as well as at other important civic events. The band has hosted benefit concerts for various local charity groups, and provided music education bursaries to talented young musicians in the city. MPCB offers free concerts within the City of Mississauga each year.
