Thinking of joining Mississauga Pops?

Instrumentation

Mississauga Pops Concert Band plays music scored for the following instruments: flute, piccolo, oboe, clarinet, alto clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, french horn, euphonium/baritone horn, tuba, bass, and percussion.

Mississauga Pops could be for you if:

• you are an adult amateur or semi-professional musician who plays one or more of the above instruments, and you live in the Mississauga area
• you enjoy a relaxed, fun rehearsal atmosphere, but you can get serious, too
• you've got a high standard of playing and typically have played post secondary school
• you can sight-read quite well, and enjoy very challenging concert band material (we are not a beginner band!), but are not put off by less-meaty "crowd-pleasers" either. more about music
• your idea of good fun includes going out for drinks, pizza, and wings with band buddies after rehearsals and concerts (optional, but we enjoy an excellent participation rate)

Some obligations

• annual membership dues: $100 for 2009-2010
• summer uniform: khaki-coloured pants, acquire hat, crested green golf shirt, and crested jacket from band
• winter uniform: ladies - all black; gents: black suit, white shirt, acquire dark red bow tie from band
• fundraising: work at a Bingo hall on Saturday night about twice annually
• time commitment: in addition to at-home practice time, there are year-round rehearsals and concerts, and occasional week-end band trips. We seldom break for holidays - can't get enough band!

Current vacancies are listed in the column to the right. You may wish to apply for membership even if there are no vacancies in your section(s) of choice. We'll keep your application on file until September of the following year in case a position becomes available. You are welcome to re-apply each year to remain on our waiting list. Already a member?

Join our private online group "Misspops". Only Mississauga Pops Concert Band members may join, so new group membership requests will be denied unless we recognize you.
